Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I'm in the market for a 996 and have looked at a LOT of cars online for the past week. I previously owned a 2007 Cayman and would not have considered a Boxster , I much preferred a coupe. But after seeing all these photos, I'm starting to think about a Cabriolet. I might sort of like the reduced slope of the rear window as compared to a coupe. My preferred color is black, maybe dark blue, both of which look very nice against a dark convertible top. Please give me your comments on the Cabriolet: Are the tops a pain to lower and raise? Mechanically troublesome? Other issues? I would always garage this car and since I'm retired and stick close to home, it wouldn't be out in the sun for more than a few hours at a time, never in rain or snow. I'm also seeing a lot of AWD models. Should I accept an appealing model 4 or avoid if I can? This car will be for occasional pleasure driving, no track use. All comments welcome.

I have a Boxster (two, actually) and a 997 coupe. I really don’t know why anyone ever considers the Cabrio over a Boxster . The two trunks give a lot of easily-accessible luggage space, and the handling is more predictable. Unless you are occasionally hauling small grandkids, there is no advantage. And 4s? Extra weight, extra complication.

POST 3Original post

I have a 996 cabrio and love it. I'm near DC, and rarely put the top up in summertime. Mine's triple black. Whther you get a Boxter or the 911 , you can't go wrong! (My son has a 997 black cabrio. He loves it and so do his kids!). The top works fine. I have bore scoring but I don't let that stop me from enjoying it.
