TT is a different engine than what came in your 1999 so while it is possible it is cheaper & better to sell your car & buy a TT.
Swap the tt motor? Idk if you can but it would be pretty sweet- what's the price foe the turbo car?
does anyone know of a write up on this
If you want to do the engine, you also need the gearbox. It won't bolt up to your current gearbox. You can disable the AWD and run it as a 2WD vehicle. Don't know of a write up, but it's been done before. It's not a simple project, but it's doable.
Not simple, not cheap. You're probably better off buying a TT.
