Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Recently I went to open my Targa roof on my 2003 and it started acting sluggishly upon opening. It did open but when I went to close the roof it did not want to move. I eventually got it to close and now I am afraid to open it. It was fine one day and not functioning like it should the next day. The glass curtain moves freely so no issue with that. Any ideas on how to solve this problem or what the problem is exactly? I am not up on how to work on this system so any help would be appreciated.

No solid info, but if I had to guess: it's summer and the heat may have dried out the tracks. Maybe when you have a bit of time, open the top and spray silicone lube on everything that must slide. Worse comes to worse, there are two "keys" inside the car that you can access to move the top manually if the motor fails - back near the "c" pillars, I believe. Only other thing I can think of is that when my battery started to die, the roof started to move slowly when the car wasn't on (but it cranked slower too when turned over).

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
