Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

My current bosch battery (P/N#: S5572B) lasted less than 2 years, and I would like to know if anyone has a recommendation for a battery replacement? I see Odyssey and Optima brands are rated well on some review sites. I appreciate the help, Bill

POST 2Original post

If the battery only lasted 2 years it would either have been defective or it was in a hostile-to- battery -life condition of some kind. 20 years ago I might not have felt that way, but today's batteries, even the mid quality ones, should last longer than that. Your post doesn't include the information, but does the car have a common life of a low mileage per year Porsche ? Batteries really don't fair well in those conditions unless kept healthy externally from the their host's alternator .

POST 3Original post

Thank you for your response. I have a 2003 Porsche Boxster S 986 for which I drive 5K miles per year. I live in Long Island, where the winters are fairly mild. So, I was hoping to see if anyone was aware of a battery that can hold up to low mileage and mild winters.

POST 4Original post

AAA Road Service will come out and install a battery with a 5-year warranty. Use a battery tender when not driving the car for more than a week.

POST 5Original post

Thank you for raising the idea of using a battery tender . I'm going to look into that.

+1 On "Use a battery tender when not driving the car for more than a week." This is SAGE advice - Get a tender and use it!
