Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Are there any companies that are modifying and back dating the 996. I know it's not an air cooled motor, but I'm not a purist. To me it seems as though the 996 would be a great vehicle for this type of program. Especially with how many 996 are available, and they whole "ugly" headlights controversy.

I've never seen a 996 singer? Do you have a link?

Thanks! That's an interesting concept, the proportions seem a little off, but I appreciate the effort involved.

Somewhere on here is a thread or two on resto mods or "singer" like builds for the 996. Companies like RPM technik come to mind that have done some cool stuff with the 996.1 (CSR) and 996.2 (EVO). The coolest resto mod may be the PCAs 996.1 Club released last year. But to your question, no company as of yet has appeared to replicate what Singer (964) is doing that is dedicated to the 996. Sooner or later there will be. It's only a matter if time.

I have never seen that before. Agreed the proportions seem off on it, although it is interesting and well executed. The RPMTechnik CSR is the best example I have seen on a 996 hot rod build. They do a really good job of turning up the standard 996 and offering a better version of the platform. I think as values continue to go up for good examples of the 996, you will see more companies get involved and offer some really awesome packages.

That's pretty horrible IMHO. Looks like a poorly executed plastic surgery where the lines and proportions just don't look right. What Singer does is celebrate and pick the best parts from various air cooled car generations and puts them together into a greatest hits package. If you want to "Singerize" a 996 take a similar idea but celebrate it for what it is. RPM Technic has done the best job of this that I've seen.

POST 10Original post

Oh God please no. There are enough Singers in this world. Sadly a DLS isn't in my garage but I have spent some time with one. Me personally I want to build a 996 Cup Car clone with bolt on fenders and BBS Mag wheels but probably won't ever happen.

Sorry, but you can't make a post like that and not elaborate further At least give us some insight as to what THE pinnacle of aircooled cars is like from either the driver's or passenger's seat Sir might like this then, no bolt on fenders, and the BBS wheels weren't Mag, rather they were forged aluminium, the engine a 2009 3.6 997 Cup item with custom exhaust and headers, the transmission 996 Cup/R/RS/RSR race car, Ohlins ex 996 RS race car 3 way adjustable dampers, Guard Transmissions billet LSD, Elephant suspension links, BBS E88 wheels. All based on a Mk1 996 GT3 with a welded in Clubsport cage. All in all about as close as you could get to a Cup on the street. Enjoy : http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=134448
