Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

that's a rough job but doable if you're stripping it down yourself. Your best bet is the official Porsche PIWIS/dealer level documentation, since aftermarket manuals like Haynes tend to skip the depth needed for timing chain settings and torque sequences on that engine. Mitchell1 or ALLDATA can also work and are usually cheaper than sourcing a dealer manual, since they pull factory level specs. Cayman specific forums are worth checking too, since owners doing engine rebuilds often share detailed writeups with the exact torque sequence and timing steps. Given how critical timing accuracy is, I'd cross reference at least two sources before starting.
I hate to be Debbie Downer but unless you have a ton of relevant engine building experience, I think you need to think very carefully about doing this yourself. My experience is linked below. Read all the articles and if that doesn't scare you, I'll be glad to give you free advice. I have a bootleg copy of the PWIS documentation, which for legal reasons I don't share with anyone, but believe me, their documentation is less than straight-forward. On the other hand, the Jake Raby video was invaluable. There are old threads here and on Renn-List regarding how to find factory documentation. Do a Google search and they should pop up. 2007 Cayman S 987.1 – Full Engine Rebuild – Why? See if AllDataDIY has your car in their library of service info. If they do - I highly recommend it. You can even check them out before committing (I usually subscribe for 2 years at a time..) I think they have a 1 week subscription option. Long enough to learn their system and find out what it can and can't do.
