Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Glad to find this community. Currently own an '02 S, and plan to buy a Cayman S next August. I had my car at the dealer (Boardwalk) this week and was given an '05 Boxster for a loaner. First time to drive the '05 model. Quite a difference from my '02 S. Even though there is only 10 hp difference, it is noticeable. The new car feels tighter, which issince my car is 3 years old and Porsche has stiffened the chassis of the '05 models. The exhaust sound is a lot better than the S. I have de-snorked my car so that is primarily what I hear now. The interior is much nicer, but I don't necessarily like it better. But it did give me a taste of what to expect in the Cayman S. I like the Cayman styling much better than the Boxster with the top up. You really can't beat the appearance of the Boxster when the top is down. I guess that 's the point. It's been in the high 90's to over 100 for several weeks so the top has not been down in a while. Wanted to introduce myself to the members and say that likewise, I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Cayman S. Regards to all.

Welcome! One point of note the 2003 Boxster S has 258hp from the factory, the 2005 has 280 so a difference of 22 vs. 10, although perhaps you were referring to yours being 10hp less if you've done some mods. Which reminds me I need to put up my photos of de-snorking a 2005 Boxster S as it will directly apply to the Cayman S as well.

Thanks for the welcome. K-Man S, I was specifying the difference in horsepower between my 2002 S and a base 2005 Boxster (250hp vs. 240 hp). Re: the desnorking of the Cayman/2005 Boxster, seems like Porsche has made it much harder than with the previous year models. Cheers.

Ordered my Cayman S from Boardwalk Porsche myself. It should be here January. Lemme know if you wanna take a look./fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/thumbsup.gif Any words of advice about Boardwalk? Also, they don't put any dealer decals on the car, do they? Thanks!

Psycho - my experience with Boardwalk has been great. I have purchased two Boxsters from them. They go overboard to make sure you're satisfied. I have dealt with two of the three Service Advisors and they willtreat you right. I worked with Tracy Rabey in sales on both cars. He is a great guy. Who did you buy your car from? And no, they do not put any deealer decals on your car. There will be a Boardwalk license plate from, that's all.
