Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Hello All! I took my tiptronic shifter off today to replace the rear center console (which in itself wa a job) - 1999 c2 put everything back and now, i cannot get the button for the shifter know to sit back properly. I can get it to "sit" on the hinge but the minute i depress the button to shift the button pops off of the hinge. HELP!?!?!?!?! anyone have any idea why this is happening or how to fix it? anybody have a 996 tiptronic shifter they want to sell in the event I cant fix it? any ideas or thoughts woulf be appreciated! thanks -Dipak

POST 2Original post

Did you put the clip back on? When you put the shifter button back into place you really need to press hard to 'snap' it back on. I think that is the part you're talking about?
