Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was just wondering for those of you that have bought a 911 several hundred miles or more away (say 500+) what is the way you got it home? I figure my options are 1. fly in drive home 2. drive down with someone drive back 3. have a meeting spot somewhere but still it is like #2 4. have it shipped 5. drive down trailer back I don't really want to trailer it b/c of the drive down, I have access to a beast of a trailer but the expense and wear and tear on the vehicle etc. makes it very unappealing to me. Shipping seems like a great option but how do I just had someone 20 grand and "hope" they ship my vehicle to me? Also I don't feel comfortable not seeing/driving the vehicle in question as well. I like #3 the best but is that an ok thing to ask a seller to do. I figure if they are willing to drive a few hours even then they feel good about the mechancial cond. of the car and if something does break hopefully it would be before it got to me. I am not comfortable flying in and driving b/c of the whole breaking down scenario. If that happens you are pretty much screwed, not that it wouldn't suck in #3 as well but at least you have someone and another car there. Anyway just kinda wanted to know how you all that do this actually do it and why. Thanks for the advice!

POST 2Original post

I haven't bought a car without seeing one first. So to me, I limit myself to 250 miles. This way, I can go, check it out and then decide. Also, checking it in person first can allieve you of fears of braking down, or, knowing what few spares you might bring back with you just in case. I have had friends who have simply flown in and drove home after spending time on the phone with the owner and having a PPI done before hand. A PPI wont catch everything, but it should catch the big ones and let you know if the car could be driven without worry. As for shipping.. YOU arrange it. Talk with the seller. Indicate what day and what company someone will be coming to pick it up. Really shouldn't be a big deal, especially if you trust the seller.
