Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I live in AZ and clearly it is HOT in the summer. Today is 110. Any real benefit to people in hot climates to add the 3rd radiator and lower thermostat? I see that is common for people tracking but not sure I plan on tracking the car but at the same time, if it benefits the longevity and protects the car-I would do it.

POST 2Original post

After the first season attending the POC's events at Willow Springs (987CS) during the hot September days, I decided to install the third (center) radiator kit from Sunset Porsche , and noticed a lower operating temps, just for an extra piece of mind. Also, this was the first mod I did to my 981CS for the same reason.

POST 3Original post

Agreed it would be a piece of mind. Did you change out to a lower thermostat as well? Was the install fairly simple?

POST 4Original post

I briefly thought about putting in a 3rd radiator, but I'm not tracking either the 987.2 or 981 Outlaw. Given that you've got a 2007, especially if you have an S, I'd be more concerned about bore scoring -- and @deilenberger has a very good point about the lower temps. Removing the front bumper is a significant but very doable project. What I would strongly suggest that everyone does, if you haven't gotten in there yet, is just going in and giving the front two rads a HUGE cleaning. Plus, it's also a great time to install DIY radiator guards (mesh netting) as well. You wouldn't believe how much crap had gotten in there, and you'd be giving your current two radiators a break. The other thing - totally WAG - is that what we sense as "hot" as human beings - our cars may be indifferent to the change between an 80ºF vs a 100ºF degree day (in terms of performance) and are likely designed to withstand such temperatures. I'm not an engineer, but it's something I think about?

I added the 3rd radiator and it was a easy install. All the fittings are there and just plugged up. You have to cut up your bumper or get a S or automatic bumper with the opening. I did it because I track the car and also added the 175 t-stat.
