I'm working on rebuilding a 996 motor and I have the factory manuals (Thanks to Wayne at Pelican), but for the life of me I can't find any wear limit specifications for the crank/rod bearings and journals. Does anybody have these specs or know where I can find them? Also: are first under bearings available? TIA james

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Unfortunately, Porsche has never let any of this info out about the M96/97 engines. The best info has been gathered first hand with new parts. Also, there are no oversized bearings available. Basically, Porsche viewed these engines as marginally repairable.
Well that just sucks! Customer won't be happy...
