Just got my Silver CaymanS right here in Honolulu. This is one Hot Car that will no doubtgo down in history as a cult-car... I don't know if this is a problem anyone else ishaving but I thought I should bring it up.While I love the sound of the jet-engine roar behind my head, after a good hard drive, I walk out of the car nearly deaf. Anyone out there driving with earplugs?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

You cannot drive with earplugs....its illegal (you need your ears as well as your eyes) Try fixing up the muffler/ ECU with your dealer because hearing is just too precious to lose.
Compared to a 912 I once owned, the Cayman is extremely quiet. Compared to my 911SC, the Cayman is extremely quiet. Are you used to cruising around in a Rolls Royce or a soar plane??? The engine noises of the Cayman are distintive, are Porsche, but I wouldn't call them LOUD by any means.
When cruisingi think that road noise isa bit louder then inmost cars, but i don't think the engine is that loud (certainly not compared to older porsches). My dad on the other hand thinks its way too loud for him (he drives a 7 series BMW ).
WElcome OK- Man, It is nice to know there is another Cayman here in Honolulu! I have yet to see one on the road. The engine noise undder 3500 rpms is not too loud, but over 5000 it does make some noise. Aloha Russ
Well, it is (where I live anyway) on the streets. Along with headphones etc. (residing in Ontario) I thought this was a widespread law. No matter, carry on...
It's not deafening like driving without a muffler is! You may want to go to the dealer and just run this by them for the sake of caution if nothing else. Keep us posted.

WHAT?......i cant hear you......
man...i wish i could have gotton that jet engine option on my cayman/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/taunt.gif
Have had my midnight blue CS for about month, 700 miles, Sound not deafening at all, with windows closed or open. Would actually like sound to be louder. Will get louder at 5k and up.
hehehe, you want loud? try an M3 on full chat with both windows open, it howls! It's actually worth freezing my nuts off in the UK, just to hear that glorious straight 6 at 7500rpm as it hits fourth (at about 110mph!) Oh, I will be sad to see it go, but the Cayman has been ordered and it's due in April...and I can't wait!

84 decibel rating - gotta love it! Having second thoughts about ordering the Bose system . Probably won't be able to hear it !
craigerdog, I simply have to choose, either I listen to the Bose (like when in heavy traffic), or listen to the engine (like most of the time), but it is nice to have the choice. I haven't heard the standard sound system, but I think the Bose sounds beautiful once you find the correct settings. Russ
