Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I amexperiencing that the range of the Homelink system to open and close the garage door is quite limited versus the original Lift Masterremote. To open and close my garage door, I have to be a specific distance (not too far or close)from the door and often have to make repeated attempts. Are others experiencing this?

POST 2Original post

Sully, Same deal here - need to be about 5 feet from the garage door and pointed straight at it.

POST 3Original post

Mine is a good 25 feet. It opens my gate from around a corner and my garage door before I line up to it.

POST 4Original post

Mine also opens my garage at 25 ft, and the same with my front gate. Russ

POST 5Original post

nope...mine works just fine. in fact i can have the car turned 90 degrees away from the garage and it still works. try holding the button down a little longer maybe and also look for things that might be causing interference...just my $.02

POST 6Original post

I noticed with my sister's Lexus with HomeLink, you definitely need to hold the button down longer than a typical remote.

POST 7Original post

I am not having that problem at all. I can open or close the garage door from 100ft or so, no problem. But there are no obstructions between the car and the door sensor, well except the door itself. There are no other cars, trees or such.

POST 8Original post

I do seem to hold mine down about 2 seconds. FWIW, Russ

POST 9Original post

I can get it to work at about 100'. The car can be perpendicular or head on. I do have to hold the button for a one count. it also works fine after I pull out of the garage with the door behine me. It will NOT work if the engine is off though. Gmund

POST 10Original post

You do have to hold the buttons for a couple of seconds to work. It be great if any one can figure out to how to get the power to stay hot on the homelink even with the key out of the car.

POST 11Original post

Long range here. Hold the button down til I get movement, then release. I also think that that is the reason ti was difficult to program initially. The expectation was for it to work on touch, rather than hold for a couple seconds.
