Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

My 987.1 has tiny cracks in the taillight lenses. Not scratches but hairline cracks They are uniform throughout and are in the clear section as well as the red. My car came from Biloxi MS and likely saw a lot of sunlight in the 3 years it was there before I got it. (though the headlights and rubber trim look as new.) I have not seen anyone else mention this. Am I the only one?

POST 2Original post

The lights on my 2007 are all fine, but then I'm from England so they don't get hot all that often. Is it possible that the previous owner had any sort of film like Lamin-x on them? From the Audi forums I've seen quite a few people complaining of crazing of the plastic lenses on cars with Lamin-x on them. Its usually the headlights and there is much debate over whether heat plays a role or not. Even if there wasn't film on it and it spent a lot of time with its taillights facing the sun then maybe prolonged heat could have that effect. I'd say it's an excuse to look into some new LED one's

POST 3Original post

I haven't seen the problem on mine, my '05 Boxster is in the shade most of the time. I have a spare set in the garage, I'll make you a deal and help you swap them out if you are thinking of replacing them.

POST 4Original post

I'm here in Daphne, AL and my 06 987CS1 doesn't have a crack in either tail light. It's been a "Gulf Coast" car for the last 8 years (Original Owner bought in New Orleans)... Regards, Gary

My 07 base Cayman has the same happening, I'm in Florida. I found this by Googling the issue.
