Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey there folks - just newly joined the Porsche family with a 996! The car has the PORSCHE decals on both sides of the car. Im not sure how I feel about them. How can I find out if these were original OEM when it came out or if previous owners added them?

POST 2Original post

Welcome! Meridian metallic, very nice. Not OEM, but if you like them keep em on. Post up more pics, interior and options code sticker.

Thank you!! I didnt see them called out in the options

POST 4Original post

The decals that do come OEM look much different, so it's easy to tell at a glance for someone that has seen 1000's of 996's.

What exterior decals are OEM for 996? Its easy to tell how? Besides the hood crest and rear model designator, what are the other exterior options?

I've never seen that one offered by Porsche. I'm not 100% on this, but I believe the only decals that were applied at the factory were for the GT3 on the 996. Porsche has alway offered striping/decals by aftermarket sales and I'm sure many dealerships had them installed to make their cars look unique. You can buys them direct from Porsche dealership like Suncoast or aftermarket companies too. But be careful because alot of aftermarket companies don't get the Porsche font and Carrera script font right. https://www.suncoastparts.com/catego...xteriorst.html

Mine had similar stripes. They've been removed for something closer to OEM and less "look at me, I drive a PORSCHE" stripe
