Hi, just bought my first 01' 996 c4 and noticed I had the 961/04 engine in it. I know the 03 is the 3.6, but whats the difference then between the 01/02/04? And of course, do they all share the same reliability? thanks!

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

There's an expansive chapter about M96 engine subtypes in the Adrian Streather 996 book, but I'm not sure I should post the pictures of those pages here... Not much difference, from what I can read there, between the 3.4L variants though.
