Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was just driving home on the highway and noticed I was not able to shift into 5th, 3rd, 1st and Reverse Gear. I've read it could be Shift Linkage issue? I have not been able to jack the car up yet. Any ideas? Thanks

POST 2Original post

Losing all odd gears, I bet it is shifter cable issues. But, you have to jack it up, crawl under, and investigate.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah it seems to be the Shift Linkage may have popped off and may need to zip tie it or wire it back, is what I've been reading.

POST 4Original post

The shifter cable likely came out of the bracket on the trans. It probably looks something like this: Do yourself a favor when you or your mechanic fix it and make it look like this for like no money and never have this problem again:

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks so much, is it on the passenger side of the car?

But, zbomb, if he has his tech do it, he won’t buy a pair of safety wire pliers!!! And this is a one wrench level, feel good diy.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quick Update: The Shifter Linkage popped out, and I was able to tie it back into place with some wire/zip ties. Took it for a ride, and its shifting great again. Thanks all for the help.
