Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Took the left rear light off today to dry out the internal condensation and found there's a cable behind the light assembly to open the engine cover. Presumably, if the electric release fails, it's judged cheaper to smash your way in through the light assembly than take an angle grinder to the engine cover. But, knowing Porsche part prices, not that much cheaper.

POST 2Original post

I think it might be accessible another way, like the front compartment release - and you are not supposed to tell people!

POST 4Original post

I can see some one now, making off up the road with a 996 engine on a shopping trolley.... look good in a Saxo. Do they still do the Saxo Owner Manual in comic form.... no danger that they can read any of this then... Can't be worse than the Audi dealership who i called when my 500SE's alarm went mad, telling me over the phone how to disable it. Great. Pull back carpet. Unplug. Drive off.
