2001 Porsche Cabriolet - convetible top doesn't lock. mechanism pulls closed, but rather than stopping, red dash light going out, and windows rolling up, the lock winds back out, and tries again. keeps cycling to lock, then unlockes & tries again. i unbolted the lock mechanism at the windshield roof line. The lock pulls in to lock position, micro-switch releases, then it goes the other way and unwinds to try again. If I keep the switch pressed down, it does stop at the lock position but the red light isn't going off. seems it doesn't know when the lock is set to turn off the light and roll up the windows. driving around with back windows down and the alarm and locks are useless if you reach in and unlock door. any help gang? I don't trust dealers to spend hours scratching their heads, replacing parts, and giving a huge bill for their struggles. LOL

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anyone have any solutions besides driving to the nearest Porsche Dealer for service? LOL
on the latch there should be a plastic shieth that gets old and cracks. make sure it is in place and intact.
Mine does the same thing as the little sheath thingy is missing. I just place a thin piece of plastic behind the hood and it closes every time. Have to order the part one of these days.....
