Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I recently picked up a 2009 CS. This curious looking metal bar was installed in the far back of the trunk/hatch area. Certainly does not look factory. Anyone have any insight on what this might be? Regards, Mike

POST 2Original post

Does it slide up and out? Or is it bolted in? Maybe someone wanted to protect the dynamic hardware for the rear spoiler?

POST 3Original post

I thought it looked like an added internal mount, light vertical scuffs on the plastic skirt appear to indicate multiple in and outs, just a wager.

POST 4Original post

It appears to be bolted in there. I can visibly bend it with no signs it may move.

POST 7Original post

That crossed my mind, but the car is fairly low mileage. I have a hard time believing someone would have went to a fabricator, custom built this, torn the trunk a part to carry cargo in their low mileage Porsche .

POST 8Original post

Not factory. The holes on the bar make me thing that something was bolted to it (see if there are scratch marks from hardware on the carpet-side of the bar?). I'm guessing it may have been a speaker box or something like that... to keep it from sliding around?

POST 9Original post

That’s currently my best guess too. Additionally facts being there is a fairly nice audio upgrade while the previous owner really wanted the OEM look (factory head unit, wheels, even the amps are hidden). Mounting a subwoofer in the “way back” would keep things hidden. There are enough audio crossovers to support the idea of a sub back there…
