Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Evening all, Say for instance you’re 996 was t-boned causing you to spin out 180’ then roll backwards towards the central reservation only for your offside tail pipe to bury itself in the earth (before impact) leading to the distinct shearing off of something on the turbo that then discharged oil everywhere causing a smokey mess...and you then had to drive the car 50 yards to get out of harms way and park in the adjacent lay-by whereupon you find yourself in a virtual reality Jeremy Kyle show accosted by someone yelling ‘he’s been drinking...fackin Porsche tosser’! Now, If you were awaiting insurance assessment for the aforementioned disaster would you be absolutely 100% fearing the worst for the engine? Or has my everyday anxiety elevated itself to new levels? any feedback greatly appreciated, yours sincerely, Elliot ‘not even 1 year into Porsche ownership’ Potter.

POST 2Original post

Blimey!! I hope you're ok?? That sounds horrific! I'd say the engine stands a good chance of survival even in the worst case scenario because it's a turbo and those engines can be rebuilt. There would be lots of chassis damage though, and if the car was taken to an OPC for appraisal I suspect it would be written off. So depends who's paying and who's doing the work whether It's worth it if not. Do you have any pictures?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I’ve got a couple of pics coming. It wasn’t high speed, just perfect timing/point of impact to cause spin. The rear quarter, passenger door, rear wheels, exhaust and damaged turbo all need replacing. the exhaust damage looks to have sheared off the oil feed to the turbo, thats my main concern. The fact it got driven To get it out of the way (max 10 secs) after the crash. no injuries whatsoever so in the greater scheme of things I shouof be thankful!

POST 4Original post

Firstly, glad you're ok... I'd agree with Rodney on the engine side of things and as you say, it wasn't high speed, so most likely won't be a write off. Given you drove it for max of 10 secs I doubt will have caused any further/major damage beyond what had already happened. There would have been residual oil/lubricants enough to get you to the side of the road. I hope that you got the details of the Jeremy Kyle studio guest who accosted you in the layby as that sounds potentially worse than the accident itself. Not what you need having been shunted and spun into the central res. Keep us posted!

Little update. car was eventually written off, insurer paid out in full. Big thanks to Phil Raby who kindly provided a valuation for the assessor. Got my money, listened to the good lasies reasoning as to why i shouldn’t buy another Porsche. Immediately bought another Porsche. Happy days.

POST 7Original post

Glad it all worked out in the end, in a way, you're unhurt and have another Did the insurer offer you the car, even though it was a write-off? I'm sure that's a thing with Locktons insurance
