Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 8Original post

Shed some weight. That's free. Take out all the sound deadening, back seats, interior bits that you don't need. Look at the GT3 for inspiration. George

POST 10Original post

......and then comes the magic question.....what HP did the dyno show? Did you do a before and after dyno??? When I had my 99 996 and a portfolio that had something in it....I spent about $5K for the RSS plenum, EVO intake, GIAC flash, Schnell mufflers and some other goodies.....I'd be lucky to have picked up 40 HP. It's simply not worth it spending that kind of money chasing a few horses around. Alex at SharkWerks finally told me that if I wanted the sort of power a turbo would produce, that I should buy one.....so I did. There's really no such thing as cheap horsepower. The use of those two words together is an oxymoron....at least in the Porsche arena.

A very experienced driving instructor once told me if you want to REALLY go fast do two things, Invest all! the money in the driver, And don't slow down in the corners!!

Sell it and buy a turbo? There is no "cheap horsepower" on a Porsche.
