Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking for a simple explanation of what it is and, ideally, how it works. Thanks in advance, John

POST 2Original post

I have no idea what you're talking about....the only thing I can possibly think of is perhaps the installation of the PSE muffler option.

There was something called that for the 993 but never heard of it for the 996.

Okay Chuck, I may be thinking 993. You might be on to what I'm after, though. Is PSE just a different piece of hardware, or does it involve some kind of (vacuum?) controlled bypass... or something? TIA

POST 5Original post

PSE is Porsche Sport Exhaust....I don't recall when it was first offered on the cars, but it's actually a dash controlled solenoid that opens and closes a bypass that gives you a sporty versus a more modified and "civil" sound for those of you who had strict CCR's or *****y neighbors who complain. The PSE exhaust is one of the best sounding (IMHO) of those offered out there and it gives you the additonal option of several sounds....which the others don't give you.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Chuck. That's what I was after. Best..., John
