Sorry for a noob question, but I am a regular in the 911 tech forum. Not so knowledgeable as I would like to be about 996's. Was there ever a Carrera S but not 4wd (4S) wikipedia had this list: 911 Carrera 911 Carrera 4 911 Carrera 4S 911 Targa 911 Turbo 911 Turbo S 911 GT3 911 GT3 RS 911 GT2 Seemed weird that there is no Carrera S.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

He meant to say no. There was never a 2wd 996S. The 993 and the 997 came (come) as C2S models but not the 996.
Thats what I figured. "Yes, weird that there wasn't one."
This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
