Let me start by saying I have nothing against the fried eggs. Ever since I bought my 2002 C2 I've been looking at ways to modernize the headlights and taillights without giving up the OEM look. Personally I think all after market options look terrible and let's face it, they are all cheap Chiwanese products that probably won't last past 5 years. This is how i came up with my LED/halo upgrade for the 996 taillights, and how I stumbled upon Retrofitlabs for OEM headlight upgrades. I liked the later so much, that I became their US dealer for the Porsche kits. I like the Panamera shroud option for the 996.1, but my gripe has always been that those four LEDs just don't look as good as those in the newer Porsche models. I've been looking into some alternatives, Morimoto makes a Panamera shroud and I've even gutted a 2015 Cayenne headlight to give the Hella shroud that's in there a closer look. My goal is to come up with an upgrade that offers that signature 4-LED look that has become so synonymous with Porsche. I still have some work to do, but here is a first sneak peak at what that could look like. I like the blacked out look but this could definitely also be done without repainting any internal OEM parts. I'm also looking at doing something similar for the 996.2, but the existing shroud in those headlights presents several fitment challenges, so that will take me some a little time. Let me know what you think. For those that are unfamiliar with my work, I'm also on here as a site sponsor called Adrian Taillights and my offerings can be found on my web site PorscheRetrofits.com I offer Retrofitlab kits (all in stock in Denver), LED taillight upgrade kits, replacement headlight harnesses and more. Thanks for looking!

Interested in what you do with the 996.2 headlights.
I would certainly be interested for a 996.1.
I'd be very interested, the state of my wiring harness internally means that at some point a replacement project will have to happen. The 2.5 projectors we have as replacement options now are much better than what was available prior, but I'd still like to go up to a 3 inch and the porsche 4 led style is a better match than trying to throw a set of halos in there. With my 996 as my only car, I don't really want to undertake splitting them myself unless I had a second pair of headlights to drive with while working on the first, which makes the overall project much more of a pain. Are you doing the upgrade to the litronic base and keeping the oem ballast or gutting a halogen set and adding all the xenon hardware?
