Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone, I'm a fairly new 911 owner and have been a BMW Pelican Parts poster for a while. Anyway, I have a 2001 cab and have a question about possibly modifying my convertible top. From what I understand, the 2002 model has a top that can be operated at a speed up to 30 mph. With mine, you have to be stopped with the parking brake on. Does anyone know if I can modify it to be operable at slow speed like the newer model. One one hand, it only takes 19 seconds, but on the other hand, sometimes I hope the signal light stays red long enough for the top to go up or down completely! Thanks, Shelly

Shelly, Check out the "Smart Top" module. I do not have one but others have successfully used them. I did a quick search here (Pelican) and did not find it at first??? I just re-searched and Pelican lists them. Well DUH! But you can still see the demo on this other site, Please support Pelican with your$$ http://www.pcars.com/porsche_parts/shop.php/porsche/carrera-2/4/turbo-996-/relays-motors-switches-wiper/smarttop-996-for-porsche-carrera-cab/p_2.html SmartTOP 996 for Porsche Carrera Cab Product Information SmartTOP 996 is for all Carrera Cabriolets (Convertibles) The smartTOP roof control unit allows opening or closing the convertible top while driving at slow speeds. It works similar to power-windows and opens or closes the roof automatically at the touch of a button. It is not necessary to stop the vehicle and pull the handbrake to operate the roof. Plug and Play: easy installation in 15 minutes. No tools required. No car mechanic help needed.

Thanks so much! I'd done a google search with different words and it didn't come up. I'll check it out.
