Are you driving with your ECO light on? Good. Otherwise your AC compressor is always on unnecessarily. Interesting you have to make a positive action to turn it off.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

To much heat in PR to drive with it off. It appears the compressor will turn itself off if 1. The engine requires additional cooling 2. The cooling is minimal if the RPM are too low (it could be On) 3. When the car it is first turned on, shorly after it come s on
Thanks for the post. I had no idea what that button was even used for.
Hey OG, Long time. How's it running? You would have figured it out when the hot weather arrives here in - October and you'd be looking for the AC.
"ECO" is for ECONOMY mode, when the compressor is off regardless of the ambient temp and ventilation setting. if left in "Auto" mode, the compressor will cycle on & off as needed, like your home a/c and thermostat. Greg Edited by - gemars on 05/29/2006 9:37:30 PM
How about that air recirculating button? Anyone know what it is for? When to use? My A/C works flawlessly, and I have a manual...and its damn hot here (90F).....COCO
The recirculation button closes the vents to the outside so the air inside the car is constantly recirculated. Use it when you first get in the car when it's really hot, and it will cool the air inside the car faster because it just keeps cooling the air that is getting cooler inside the car. I also punch it if I see a big bunch of dust or dirt in the air up the road so none of it gets inside the car. I know there's filters, but still some very fine dust gets in the car if you don't. brad
Thanks Brad well put!
I never turn my ECO button off. If I do there is no A/C. I do not have Auto Climate Control if that makes a difference. Aloha Russ
