Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Reading through the various frums here I have come accross the "RMS issue" a number of times in relation to the 996. Can someone tell me what the RMS issue is? Thanks Migration info. Legacy thread was 30879

POST 2Original post

I'm getting a 996 inspected this morning. Chances are I'm probably just about to find out! Migration info. Legacy thread was 30897

POST 3Original post

RMS = rear main seal where the engine adjoins the transmission. They're prone to leak on some cars (996s, 997s and Boxsters) - no telling which - and it's a c£500 fix. But if a car has gone ?20-30K miles with no problems, then the risk seems minimal. IMHO. Migration info. Legacy thread was 30900
