Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is there a max number that the DME can record engine operating hours up to? It hasnt changed in the last 500 miles, and I have an over-rev beyond the current hours recorded. I have zero issues with the engine, but find it curious.

POST 2Original post

Since the number is so close in appearance to 65536 which is the highest number of discrete steps (of 0.1 hours) you can achieve with a 16 bit long 'word' I'd say Yes, there is a maximum and you have reached it. However, I do not know if that is actually the case. Strange that your total hours is 0.1h less than the latest entry of range 1 ignition events. Perhaps that's indicative of something else causing your total hours not increasing.

POST 3Original post

Another post referred to the max over revs also being 65536. So hours also makes sense.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well that would be unfortunate if true. Im not doubting that the engine has that many hours since Im at 235K miles. It was showing 6461 hours at 217K miles in May 2020.
