Driving in my car today and went to give the windscreen a clean and one of the wiper arms popped out with the wiper blade literally sticking upright whilst the other worked perfectly. Is this a known problem? TIA

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Do you mean it's come off the spline shaft it's bolted too?
Hi Alex the wiper arm on one side just ended up sticking out from the windscreen like I’d pulled it away from the windscreen when I’m giving it a wash and the other wiper arm did what it’s supposed to do
Weird. Not seen that happen.
I’ll have to strip back the plastics and see what’s going on with the mechanism
Most probably corrosion. It's possible for water to enter between the arm and motor shaft and eventually it can get bad enough for the arm to expand and become loose the shaft. This and/or the nut has come undone.
So are you saying that it was in car wash mode? Pointing to the sky? But still connected to the spline? The only thing I can think of is the spring, but the advice above sounds plausible too. What a weird scenario
I think the spring has snapped or come off. Should've posted a photo Marty.
