Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone found a lower force bonnet strut for a carbon bonnet? I'm currently not using any as it feels like it puts strain on the bonnet to get the standard ones closing, that and it shoots up. Probably not helped by the fact that the original struts are quite new! I reckon it needs a strut with probably under half the force. Seems the standard are 540N, 225mm with an 8mm ball head, might be able to get something off the shelf. Thanks

Thanks tried them - they said 'unfortunately, we only deal with direct replacement for vehicles' gas struts and won't be able to assist you with a modification that is on the car.' Yeah puts a bit of twisting force on the bonnet unfortunately which I don't like - lifts it no problem though - it's just over 5kg so doesn't need anywhere near as much!

Shame the engine cover ones are longer as they're only 220n. I've just replaced my original bonnet struts as they were only just holding the bonnet up, the new ones are much more powerful. I'd estimate if the new are 560n the old ones must be 350-450 now, I could send you them to try if you want, they still look good!?
