I have recently gotten a 99 c4. The only annoying part of the car is that the throttle sticks throughout the throttle range. It's not so bad as to be dangerous, if you lift it returns fully and quickly. It does make smooth throttle application difficult and jerks around passengers if you're not super careful. Questions: 1. What goes from the pedal to the engine? A cable (mechanical) or a wire (electronic) 2. Is there a place that just needs grease?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

all the 99 C4's are egas. Need to pull the boot from the air cleaner and clean out around the throttle plate. It can get gunked up in there.

Not a 996 expert, but I'll second the gunked up throttle body.
Thanks for the advice, I'll get on the throttle body tonight and clean it up. From here on no news is good news.
Well that's what I get for expecting good news. .... ""all the 99 C4's are egas. Need to pull the boot from the air cleaner and clean out around the throttle plate."" Wait a minute, if the throttle is egas, cleaning the throttle body (which I've now done) doesn't effect the feel of the throttle pedal (it didn't). They're not mechanically connected. On further inspection the sound is coming from the plastic pedal assembly (the little box on the floor). It's not loud by any means but it's the sound of plastic rubbing on plastic. If you move the pedal quickly there's no problem, this only happens when moving the pedal slowly. Is this assembly on the floor board something that can be lubricated?
