Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In spite of my high mileage 996 cab not being THE MOST VALUABLE PORSCHE ever I picked it up for a good deal and everything I've done to it has added value. It was a bit unkempt appearance-wise when I got it. Some of those projects include just putting things back the way they're supposed to be. Little missing plastic push fasteners, detailing, etc. I am currently sorting out the trunk compartment. I have a factory spare, factory tool kit, and the factory jack with foam holder. Some bonehead lost the jack handle over the past 20 years so @zbomb is helping me out with that. My factory tool kit has always stuck out from behind the spare where it is wedged but some tools poked out of the roll and it just didn't seem right. Upon further inspection it had two tools that didn't belong (likely trying to replace the jack handle), hell one of them is marked as BMW part. That was part of the problem, but still I would think this thing has a proper resting place. Can someone post some pics of a completely unmolested, as intended trunk compartment including where the tool kit is supposed to be stowed? Also - I have seen spare covers, were they all covered from the factory, or no?

Figured it out gang. It seems the rightful resting place for the tool kit is the pouch in the spare tire cover - which I don't have. eBay to the rescue! New they're $180-$200+. That's absurd, Porsche tax for ya there.
