Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

With gas prices at $4.40/gallon for premium in Chicago I decided to monitor my fuel mileage. I travel about 250 miles per week 50/50 highway and heavy suburban traffic. I have been getting about 22 MPG which wa a pleasant surprise. My wifes 2008 ML350 is lucky to get 16 MPG with about the same highway/city mix. If I moderate my driving style I may get 23..............nah!

POST 2Original post

On a recent trip I got 28mpg on the highway! Wonderful engines

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Kent, Yes, I took a 300 mile road trip last week and got a little over 27MPG. This is a very pleasant surprise as my wife was encouraging me to look at a Prius This is a little off subject but I find it difficult to justify a $10k premium for the Prius over a base Corolla. Even at $5/galon gas the ROI is over five years. Of course, I am not factoring in environmental benefits but I live in Chicago where the environment is a tertiary consideration at best The good news is I can convince my wife it is not worth selling my 996 for $23,000 to buy a Prius for $26,000. POST 4Original post

Glenn, perfectly sound argument. Keep it. Unfortunately I'm selling my 996, but only for another Porsche. I'm always amazed at how my 996 can be perfect for driving around during the week (enough space for groceries or picking up my kids all with air conditioning etc.) and then on the weekend so easily carve up some canyon roads. It's truly the best of both worlds.

POST 5Original post

Or keep the 996 and buy a Yaris (36mpg) for $14K...

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Kent, What are you trading up to? Glenn

POST 7Original post

Glenn, haven't decided yet. I'm almost finished with my 914 conversion and the 996 doesn't get driven much. I wouldn't mind a Cayman in the garage...
