I've done a fair bit of searching on this forum and others, but can't seem to find any info on 996-specific starter removal/installation. One post suggests that the starter can be removed from above the engine (perhaps the alternator needs to be removed, perhaps not), and another suggests that you gain access through the wheel well (after removing the axles half shaft). Not exactly clear. Lot's of posts on the older cars, but nothing specific I could find on the 996's. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Vehicle is a 2000 996 C2.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
