Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am looking for 996 coupe - something around year 2000 40k miles and silver. I was originally looking at prices for 98/99 models and they are priced anything from £23k for 70-80k miles and upto £ 29k for same with 30-40k miles. Of course there are loads in the middle with price and mileage all over the place. I know prices are coming down, but this is making it really hard to 1, pay the right price and 2, not to lose my shirt in depr. I will do 15k miles per year what do you think a 2000 coupe, silver, OPSH around 40k miles should now cost and the same for one with 65k miles. hope I am not being a bore after all this is a forum Richard Migration info. You shouldn't lose mo than 4k a year in depreciation for the first 3 years doing that mileage. Migration info. Legacy thread was 49517

POST 4Original post

Chris, whats with the new user name? Bit self depreciating isn't it? Or did DangerMan hack your account? The poo thing has his dabs all over it? Migration info. Legacy thread was 49518

POST 7Original post

With regards to colour influencing cost do you think a more common colour such as silver or black will be worth more than a not so often seen colour such as Rainforest Green (i.e mine). I would be interested as to what people think as I always thought the rarer the colour the more desirable it would be, however the more popular colours are presumably only more popular because more people like them... POST 8Original post

As you said suggest in your last point, the fact that silver and black are more common is because these are the colours that were most desirable when these cars were purchased from new. I guess until fashions change, these will continue be the most desirable and therefore costly colours. I remember when grand prix white and guards red were the 911 colours of choice. But then I was just a kid of course. Migration info. Legacy thread was 49551

POST 9Original post

But aren't all cars silver or black today, Does nobody want something a little different. Maybe not glowing orange, but surely a two tone world of 911's is a little dull. I've never seen another 996 on the road in rainforest green. Although there is a GT3 in this months 911 & PW. Migration info. Legacy thread was 49554

POST 10Original post

Rainforest not the nicest of colours, no wow factor for me. Daz Migration info. Legacy thread was 49555

POST 11Original post

That's ok I don't feel hurt..., however just by the majority of cars being black or silver surely they have lost the wow factor? Migration info. Legacy thread was 49557

POST 12Original post

hmmm - i dont know - when i see a silver or black 911 i alsways think niceeeeeee, but if i see a yellow one, i think "glad mine isnt yellow" green is cool - always liked seeing 964's in oak green........... Migration info. Legacy thread was 49565

POST 13Original post

I know what you are getting at, but its a fashion thing, and you dress appropriately for the time I guess, thats why a 964 or a 3.2 looks good in Guards, Daz. Migration info. Legacy thread was 49566

POST 14Original post

I like the green myself, i know it's not "popular" at the moment but it wouldn't stop me buying one. I do think though that there are some very cheap 996s about in different combinations. Mine is blue with savana interior - not the most popular choice, but probably saved me 2k (7%) over a black/black combination. Thats quite a bit of cash! Migration info. Legacy thread was 49580
