I have been looking for years for a classic 911 to restore and bring back to life. As many of you do, I look on marketplace daily. I finally came across what I thought was a 1970 911 Targa, red in decent shape but in needed of total restoration. I was first to look at the car and bought it without much more research since there were others lined up. Here's the mystery The car has a 6 digit VIN 456458, that tells me it's a 66 coupe (not a targa) but I clearly have a targa The interior is a match for 71 Targa, dash, door panels, etc. Again, it's a Targa Most of the VIN number badges for the VIN have been removed, drivers door pillar, below the radio inside, inside the engine in the back. The VIN stamp in the front trunk is still visible. The tag on the door has a matching 6 digit number but is not the original, it's screwed on. There is no engine or transmission so I can't look it up that way either. I also don't have a title, just a bill of sale. I am trying to figure out what car this is. I believe it's a 1971 Porsche 911 Targa, but again the VIN says its a 1966 Porsche 912 COUPE Any help would be greatly appreciated
