Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Had a new clutch fitted earlier this week, and a few times since I've not been able to get reverse. I've probably done less than 100 miles on it so far, is this a bedding in problem or something more worrying? Something not aligned properly perhaps? Any ideas?

POST 2Original post

I think I would flag it up with whoever did it just in case you need to take it back.

POST 3Original post

Everything should work perfectly, there is no bedding in process - take it back.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any theories as to what the problem may be? The gear lever will go across, but not forward, even with the clutch full in, the only way to sort seems to be to put it in first move forward a couple inches and try again. It is only intermitent - sometimes fine, sometimes a bit stiff.

POST 5Original post

Sounds like the clutch isn't disengaging fully. Definitely take it back.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Curiously it only seems to happen while warm, whereas the rest of the gearbox loosens up as it warms. By the time I get home from work (about 3miles) I can't get reverse, but by the morning it's loosened up again, and vice versa on the journey in. I've got it booked in for Saturday now, and will post the outcome

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Panic over, needed the cables adjusting at the gearstick end - the across movement wasn't pulling far enough to allow the forward movement (if that makes sense). Quite common apparently after clutch replacements
