As an antidote to all the "people don't like me because I have a Porsche" threads here is a good read from the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/08/automobiles/collectibles/08PORSCHE.html?_r=1

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

"In California, a subculture has sprung up among collectors known as the “Outlaw 356” movement, made up of owners who customize their cars with more powerful engines, wider wheels and lower suspensions" This will have the PCA clique having nightmares!!
Excellence magazine typically has an outlaw 356 every couple of months. Some of these cars are really well done w/ 912 engines and very nice bodywork/wheels. Definitely not for the purists, although what's interesting is that some of the Outlaw owners also have unmodified 356s that they just don't want to drive daily. Evidently they take a 365 without historical or preservation value and go the Outlaw route. Even though these are not restorations they don't seem inexpensive, still need deep pockets.
