Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Be grateful for any advice here. Noise exactly like a pulley bearing, intermittent. Got car into garage and he's done idlers, tensioner, belt etc. However squeak is still there, even with belt removed, with car at rest. Seems to be coming from the top and of LH/NS engine bank. Engine starts and runs fine. Cheers Guy

POST 2Original post

This sounds just like mine, I have had 4 services in the time i've had the squeak and noone can find what it is. Does yours do it all the time or just when warm intermittently?

POST 4Original post

AOS or secondary air pump might be worth a look.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks folks, I'll look at AOS. There is no 2ry air pump.

POST 7Original post

I haven’t watched the whole video yet but one of the technical experts here mentions the AOS noise and reasons it does it.

POST 8Original post

Thanks very much @ Pernicketybert , I recon this must be it, it is one of the only things I haven't replaced on this car, can't believe 4 separate "Porsche specialists" have been unable to diagnose this issue, not even suggested it as a possibility (and have charge me loads NOT solving the problem).

POST 9Original post

Sadly I no longer think it is the AOS, for two reasons: 1) I took the oil filler cap off with the engine running and the screeching didn't stop, although the engine went very lumpy. 2) It is not just at idle, happens a bit above idle too. Oddly, sometimes if I blip the throttle up to say 4 k it disappears for a short while.
