Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

This a $270 option. Do you think the black flexible thing in the Cobalt Frankfurt video is the Rear Cargo Partition option or is it a standard piece and the option is something different? Every picture of the Cayman has included the black flexible thing. If the black thing is indeed this option, do you think it is worth getting? Mark

POST 2Original post

Well when we see some pics of the black car in more detail we may know for sure, but right now I think that's the optional $270 piece and I wouldn't order it. If it came with the car great, otherwise I'm not concerned. If someone speaks German and can watch the video maybe they say in the video.

POST 3Original post

I would think the Cobalt car would have an MSRP price list on display showing the options. I guess car shows don't always do that.

POST 4Original post

Hey mark34, that black flexible thing is standard. I asked about the rear partition and was told that it mounted between the cockpit (back of seat) and the rear cabin area, and would not be a solid, single piece. I was thinking of ordering it in order toreduce noise and heat down in the cockpit, but this option will not do it. schao

POST 5Original post

Schao's description is consistent with both the description of a "glass (i.e. plexigass)" partition for sound reported in R&T and what logically could not be a single piece capable of removal and stowage, something akin to a larger Boxster windscreen but foldable and possibly retrofitted after purchase. I got the impression, possibly incorrect, the the black "screen" could be pulled up toward the top of the rear hatch glass to hide the contents beneath the window, and would retract back into it's holder when not in use. Porsche Belgium confirmed me that the black flexible thjing is optional

POST 7Original post

So optional in Europe and free in the US? Or perhaps the dealer in Belgium was mistaken. That black trunk area cover looks like a standard item to me. Schao got a good video of it in Frankfurt and was told that it was standard.

POST 8Original post

<div class="picture right"> This picture from the Pistonhead article shows the back of the cargo area with the black partition in place. I think this just falls in place to cover the entrance to the 'trunk' and nothing more. I was wrong thinking that it would somehow pull up like a shade to cover the rear window. If this isn't standard it sure should be! </div> Edited by - DaveC on 09/19/2005 2:26:23 PM

POST 9Original post

DaveC, You can't link to a piston heads photo from their site, but you CAN link to a photo on our site (see the Speed Yellow section) and I think you'll find the photo you are looking for.

POST 10Original post

Hi all This might clear things up, from the UK website ( Cayman S info >Comfort> Transport ).

POST 11Original post

Tonser's posting really clears this up nicely. Should have realized that I was "pilfering" their picture!

POST 12Original post

The black net for the top parcel shelf behind the front seats is standard on UK cars, its designed to hold a laptop.

POST 13Original post

This is a mute point at this time as it is one of the options which Porsche are not accepting with current orders

POST 14Original post

Good to see a picture of it.......may be useful......but sure is ugly IMO
