I have an 08 Cayman S 6spd and plan to buy/install the updated parts but so far after talking with Suncoast they can't/won't tell me if there is a tech bulletin of how to do the work. 2. Won't tell me the part numbers so I can verify they are for the gen 1 cars. All they can do is point me to the link on their site to buy the parts that are bundled together without Porsche part numbers. The problem with their kit is that I don't see how the cable mount bracket is going to fit since this gen car has a large single plate on top with the cable mount as part of the plate that the cables click into. So before I start spending boatloads on buying parts I want to verify. Gen 2 trans. Notice all three brackets are individual. Gen 1 trans. There is a single large plate and the cable mounts are riveted to the plate. Cable mount bracket that supposedly is the new replacement for the Gen 1. 987-424-065-01

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Here are the PNs for the kit along with my note on that bracket: Shift Cable Upgrade 987.424.042.12 Shift cables 981 .424.023.00 Shift link coupling 987.424.065.01 Support - left (Not needed on 987.1 - cannot be installed) The bracket/support in question helps orient the cable so that there is less kink (the source of shift cable failure) at the joint between the cable and the crimped fitting itself. Since there is no boss on the Gen 1 transaxle, it cannot be installed. The cables are revised as well as the coupling (compared to the Gen 1) so it should be more reliable. If I ever drop the transaxle, I'll probably try to replicate the cable orientation that the bracket provides by modifying that large sheet metal piece or fabbing some sort of replacement. Hope this helps.
Thanks. That makes sense. So the package that Suncoast sells for the Gen 1 is incorrect.
Based on the pictures of what's included in their kit, 987.1 wouldn't need 987.424.065.01. They couldn't assist me either with details.
