Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am looking at purchasing a Porsche that I was able to negotiate a rather attractive price from a independent dealer, of assorted vehicles, in Greenwich CT. Everything looks good on the car, 15k miles, but when I asked him if I could get a PPI, he says fine just so long as the vehicle stays on his lot.

POST 2Original post

Walk away. If he is afraid to let someone qualified have a proper look at it, you don't want it.

Head down, slowly walking away.

POST 4Original post

I agree with the masses, walk away. I purchased my 996 this summer from a dealer. I sent two people to look at the car and one of them took it to a shop for a PPI. The dealer bent over backwards to accommodate me. Once the PPI was done I went to the dealer as a final approval and then purchased. They did ask for a deposit but also said they would refund it if anything was wrong with the car. If the selling dealer you are working with is reluctant to do that, walk away. There are many 996's out there. Hold out for the one you really want, in the condition you want.

Not very many of these Speedsters, 356 world wide, 40 in white. There is an inspector going there as soon as the both of them can arrange a time. Who knows the tech at the end of the inspection might just convince them to jump in a go for a spin together.

I missed the part about the Speedster, that does make a difference. Let us know how the PPI goes and pictures if you get it. :-) Good luck!
