Hey, so after driving my 03 C2 in our crazy heavy California rain yesterday, I got a cylinder 2 and 6 misfire code. Not shocking since my coils are a little past it, but I drove it home gently (a couple miles, not far) and then when I drove it later that night, the misfires were gone along with the semi-flooded roadways etc. Fast forward to this morning, when on the way home from driving my wife to work, I get another CEL, this one for the bank 2 cat. The car is driving totally fine, btw. What I want to know is what's the likelihood that this is tied to the misfires and that it won't come back after some harder driving? Haven't had any issues with cats before and the 02 sensors on the car are relatively new. Any help would, as always, be appreciated.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

If I got a PO420 or 430 the cat was bad. Since I was killing them with track use at ridiculously short intervals, this was relatively frequent with the failure mode being one of the elements becoming loose. If you pull the 02 sensor in the cat, you may be able to see the element hanging out in what is supposed to be the open space in the middle of the cat housing. May be worth a look, there were no other signs of an issue in my case.
I would clear the codes and drive it again, harder this time.
That's exactly what I did and it hasn't come back. I'm going to attempt the coil and plug swap tomorrow. The easiest way seems to be to pull the mufflers, but leave the bumper on which gives the best access to the coils and plugs? Am I in the ballpark?
I do the plugs and the coils with the headers on. Although, I can see why some people would remove the header.
I don't think the header needs to be removed at all for coils and plugs. Removing the muffler will give you better access to the last plug and coil. Well, unless you have tiny man hands
