Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi folks, just signed up as a new member as I joined the Porsche ownership crew at the weekend and I'm well chuffed . I've fettled the motor (996 C2) over weekend and she's now mint. One problem I have is that the front right speaker on top of the dash is not working, I've pulled it out and there's no problem with connection, in fact I swapped the speakers as a test and the speaker itself actually works. This means I'm getting no signal to the speaker itself. So does this mean a problem with the header unit or the amp?, it looks like I need special metal strips to remove the header unit??. Also does anyone make decent replacements for the standard speakers as they're piss poor at best?, also where can I get them?. Thanks for any advice given.... Trev Migration info. good job on buying a 911, welcome... as for speaker performance, not one of Porsceh's strong points over the years, but the 996 generation were more refined that the earlier types... most audio places should be able to supply better speakers, this is the only piece of kit that is very generic... I used http://www.autoaudio.uk.com/ when I upgraded mine and they stocked direct swaps for 996's, they still might Migration info. Legacy thread was 73442
