Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello all, I was hoping to see if anyone had knowledge of the differences between the C4 and C4S front suspension system. I know the body style was different and therefore there must have been some differences in this front setup. I can’t however find a definitive answer, as the shocks look identical to the C4, both front and rear. And the diagrams I have found also are the same. Thanks

C4S uses the same Suspension as the Turbo and were all 10mm lower (as is the turbo) but this is not the M030 They will look the same and you can actually fit them between the C4 and C4S ultimately the parts were different to allow for the wider body N Post in thread '996 C4S M030 suspension Help!?' 11 Nov 2024 From the parts catalogue: Front Standard: Front X73 (sports): Rear Standard (not sure why there are 2, maybe auto - cabrio is called out separately): Rear Sports (X73) Hope that's helpful. OPC should be able to disambiguate the rear springs. I've always found them cheaper that D911 too. Dampers have a much bigger impact on ride quality than springs. I've not been in a car with the Koni's, but they seem well regarded. ndg

What would fitting them to the c4 do? Just apply the 10mm lowering, if they are the same length the geometry should be ok?

POST 4Original post

if you are fitting Genuine Porsche parts then there are specific parts for the C4 v the C4S however they are the same parts as the basis of the 996 was a shared front design with the 986

Only really the shocks that I’m looking at, I have seen someone breaking a C4S close to me and if they are the same then I can grab them.

POST 6Original post

Yes, all front shocks the same on 4 wheel drive 996

Just as a side to this thread, my supplier sent me C4 shocks for my car, and they were 28 mm to long in the strut that the coil goes over, it turns out that the rear shocks are M030 as standard on my car. The coils were standard. So I have two new standard C4 shocks to sell on if anyone in Suffolk needs them.
