Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The option sticker on my 2000 Cab lists the color of the vehicle as L999 Paint to Sample, a factory custom paint option. Does anyone know a way to identify the factory color designation of the color used? Unfortunately I don’t have the Monroney (window) sticker. I’ve identified some paint to sample colors that come close but would kill for a factory chip sheet of these unusual colors. See below for my progress to date. . . My Car Possible matches Thanks

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This website has a large selection of cars with the paint codes. Worth a look, some amazing cars. https://www.elferspot.com/en/search/page/2/?body_paint%5B0%5D=blau https://elferclassic.de/technik/farben/plack-blau.php Blue Metallic 8410 Adria Blue Adriablau 5410/Reutter 509 Some of them are pretty close. . . The Tahoe Blue 37C almost is a match.

You need to get this no matter what: https://www.*************.com/product/VIN.html It will have a lot of info, including your paint info. Edit: it’s a censored link to suncoast parts VIN decoder service. It’s $10 and will give you the full paint info.

In this one it looks like it could be Petrol Blue from the late '70s.

Thanks! Do you mean with the subscription and a VIN I can get the actual paint code? I’m worried it may list L999 Paint to sample (just like my options sticker) and not have the actual Paint used

POST 6Original post

Nope. $10 purchase for the report. Let me see if I can show you. It’s a pdf. So, might be a minute as I’m on an iPad right now… aka EFB lol

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I sent an email to Suncoast asking this question. . . I am interested in the products listed above but I do have a question. I want to identify the exterior paint code for my vehicle. It was a custom ordered vehicle and the option sticker under the hood lists the exterior color as L999 “Paint to Sample.” I am concerned that should I buy these products I would get the exterior color listed on the report as L999 “Paint to Sample” and not give me the actual factory paint color number, which as you can see does not solve my problem. Is there anyway to verify that the report will have the actual color the vehicle was painted rather than just indication it was a custom color (L999)? Thank You

POST 9Original post

You can see my car is L744 but the specific paint is Z8 black metallic. Regardless you want the vin report. It will give you every detail about your car as it came from the factory. Engine #, trans #, all the options, etc Too bad pelican won’t let me post the link. You just go on their site, type vin decoder and it will pop up. Put in your vin, pay online and they’ll email you the report.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well the VIN decoder has been ordered. . . I’m hoping it does not come back L999 “Paint to Sample.” They replied to my email inquiry with this; “The VIN DECODER will give you the paint code and the actual name of the color.“ Hope they are right.

Lol… it’s $10 if you were a guy worried about $10 we wouldn’t even be having this conversation

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Received the VIN decoder a little while ago, and to my delight the color code and name was there. along with a complete history. . . So the answer to my question is . . . 25D. Turquoise Metallic Thanks Van B for your help

POST 13Original post

Pretty awesome report ain’t it?! Not even the high priced Porsche form will give you your original engine and trans numbers!

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok I admit it I was very skeptical. The report has all of my options. The sticker under the hood doesn’t have 1/4 of the options listed on this report. Thanks for the suggestion.
