Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I see electric conversion kits for mid-70's to 80s 911s but can't find any for an early 2000s 996. If anyone is aware of any kits available in the US, thanks in advance for sharing the company's name / coordinates.

Something to be aware of on the EV conversions, its very very difficult/impossible to get the fast charge companies to authorize your car to charge. Homebuilts are not being acknowledged but the commercial charge companies. If your using a modified Tesla setup, if the donor was originally wrecked, the ECU is banished by Tesla and you can't charge at a supercharger.. Just my understanding from some friends that dabble in home brew EV's

Tagging to follow! There might be one in the inland empire here in CA but I dont think theres an off the shelf kit available right now. Most of the plug and plays Ive seen are for the old air cooled cars from a UK based vendor. separately, if anyone is interested in developing a solution PM me lets talk.

There is a guy in New York that sells Tesla drop out kits with their own computer.. cant find the dang URL right now.. But he was getting I think 13K to 16K for the battery/motor/his controller.

POST 5Original post

I just ran across this guy who's going the DIY route -- been trying to combine tesla motor and sdu with nissan leaf battery. He's done a decent job documenting the journey and even made a youtube channel. Of note, he's about 2 years in and still doesn't have a drivable EV yet. https://www.diyelectriccar.com/threa....205641/page-2

There is an indy shop here doing the Tesla conversion from the kits sourced in the UK and I thought i heard it was north of $50K. I've seen a conversion up on the lift and its very clever.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
