POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've been lusting after the Classic Club Coupe since it was announced - it's an incredibly bespoke & unique work by Porsche. It's finally is heading to auction this weekend & since I didn't win the Mega Millions last night it will likely sell for well outside of my budget. I'm guessing it will go for $3.1 million. https://www.pca.org/news/classic-clu...he-996-carrera

POST 2Original post

I guess thats good news for my mezger powered c2 that they copied.

POST 3Original post

wow those 996 prices must really be drifting up!

POST 4Original post

I’m bidding $1,050,000, so I hope that’s the winning number.

POST 5Original post

If it goes for $3.1 million there will be a lot of people at Porsche doing cartwheels. I think it will just clear 1 million. While the Classic Club Coupe is really a tour de force build when compared to the Sally Carrera that hammered for $3.6 million, the CCC's proceeds are not a tax write off like Sally or Project Gold was when auctioned. PCA is a non profit but not a charity non profit. If I owned the 997 Sport Classic and just got a 992 Sport Classic, this would complete the Porsche trinity and I would need it. There was a lot of love, passion as well as the standard blood, sweat and tears that went into this build. The Porsche folks involved really got into it and treated it as if they were building it for themselves. Hopefully, whomever buys it brings it out to events and uses it (like the owner of the Sally Carrera does).

Manny, nice job with the car and getting the 996 on the radar.

Besides being the most thoroughly engineered 996, I'm not aware of any single car from any era with such bespoke craftsmanship & engineering from Porsche (that wasn't made for a family member). With the far more plentiful Carerra GT's approaching $2 million, I think history will show that it will be *very* well bought at that price. So I hope to see them doing cartwheels

POST 8Original post

$525K I will be there in person but my checkbook was left at home 😀 Rich

POST 9Original post

I get that this will be a collectors item but i fail to see how it would be worth $1-2 mil. Its a just a new gt3 with more luxury? What am i missing? All of the parts for this car r in the porsche PET to be bought and installed. Its not like they made a special motor, suspension with custom body panels. I know because i have done it on a working mans budget.

Same deal as a Speedster. Exclusivity. Doesn't matter if it's a partsbin exercise

Youre not missing anything. Anyone with financial means could build something as good for less than $250k. Sure, it wont have been built by Porsche, but neither is a Singer or Guntherweks. Quite frankly anyone that pays $3m for it needs psychiatric help (and a lot of it)

POST 13Original post

Someone with deep pockets will pay up. Hope it goes for big bucks. It will be good for the 996 market. It will also be good for De Jeepers investment. Probably see a few more as a result.

POST 14Original post

It will have absolutely no effect on the value of De Jeeper's car (as cool as it is).

In the UK youd buy a mundane coloured Mk 2 996 GT3 for 70k, drop it off with RPM Technik and a bag full of cash to the tune of 50-60k and youd drive off with a replica of that car thats every bit as good/bespoke. Paying anything over $250k would be madness. And comparisons with a CGT (of which Im not a fan of) are quite frankly ludicrous. At $3m Id buy a pair of DLS Singers.

I think Ill be there too. Just got an invite from a friend with tix.

True, but theres rising tides and theres tsunamis... and much as I love the 996, I dont see a tsunami on the horizon

This is true....my car is just track junk .

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 18844298

I agree 1.3 million

POST 22Original post

I would not be surprised to see it go for $125k. After all it's just a remake of a Mk1 GT3. I would not be surprised to see it go for $2.75M. After all it's a "bespoke handmade tribute to the best model 911".

POST 23Original post

^^^^^^$125k + $2.75M / 2 = $1.5M....ok I'll say $1.5M

POST 25Original post

Any idea? Will Porsche Classic start selling the wing, interior and GT3 engine swap kit?

POST 26Original post

Quotes source post: 18850341

not one bit surprised 1:1

Quotes source post: 18848191

It's not even that. I don't believe the car is seam welded for one thing. What it does have going for it is the fact that Porsche did the build. How much is that worth? Well it really doesn't tell us much about the value of the 996 line.

POST 29Original post

What it tells us is that someone was willing to pay up for a Porsche one-of-a-kind conversion of a 996 Carrera to a GT3 from the factory with fancy seats, ducktail and slick paint job.

POST 30Original post

What it also tells us is that anyone with the skills and a significantly smaller wallet can do the same thing if they want, including a GT3 engine, ducktail amd slick paint job, but probably wont be able to get a matching leather interior nor the exclusive one-of-kind Factory premium. Imho, the project amd sale is good for Porsche, PCA, the buyer and all 996 owners.

POST 31Original post

You Tube Anyone wanting to watch the whole auction, I believe it starts around 1:49:00 for cars and the 996 starts around 3:09:00 ( Lot 232 ) .

MSRP quoted at the auction for reference was 292K for the 2023 Club Sport. It's anyone's guess exactly how much was spent to build it.

POST 33Original post

Quotes source post: 18850829

Pretty much a new car. $292k less markup? We may never know.

POST 34Original post

It was fun to watch in person. Bidding had a slow start at first but then it really picked up steam and excitement. Kudos to Vu, Manny, and the PCA/Porsche teams.
