So I have a 996 with the wrinkled leather seats and, Im not that old yet, but they feel hard as rocks to my back. Bear in mind, the car has only 33k miles on it so theyre in great shape. They transmit every vibration in these Atlanta roads and after an hour your back hurts. has anyone else tried putting rubber washers or other damping materials on the mounting points? Also, has anyone put extra padding in these seats? This is for a DD

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I must say i'm quite surprised, first off what kind of seats do you have, they have standard seats commonly known as Comfort seats, they also have Sport seats, which have wider shoulder bolsters and typically hard backs on them sometimes painted, some lucky ducks also have the Recaro sport seats these are usually in the GT cars but occasionally are in a regular 996, then sometimes people change them out for a newer gen set of seats or even aftermarket. My regular comfort seats have 77k on them and they are very soft and comfortable, a bit too soft actually, i drove 850 miles in one day no back ache... if you look at your build data, either in your owners manual if you have it, or under the hood there is a label and on it will be a list of codes, go on line and do a search on 996 option codes and put your option codes in one by one you should find out what your car came with originally, that doesn't mean they were not changed at some point but it a start to know what you are working with.
I have the draped leather seats, the car is so comfortable I can't believe it. I would start by looking at your suspension.
You lost me at rough Atlanta roads, try enjoying your ride in Chicago or any rust belt state.
You're not going to get anywhere trying to insulate the mounting points. First of all there isn't a practical method, secondly it would severely compromise safety. My 996 is far more compliant than either of my E86 Z4's were. If you are finding the seats/ride quality to be that bad, I'd suggest starting with a thorough inspection of the suspension as others have mentioned.
I feel like the worst part of the stock "comfort" seats is the lack of lumber support. I use one of these sometimes on long trips and it makes a pretty noticeable difference -- https://purple.com/seat-cushions/back
You can put a rolled up towel or other pad right behind the stock seat pad centre section. You can reach directly in from either side behind this pad. I simply added a rolled towel and adjust to preference for lumbar support. I’ve not seen the Purple seat cushion. I use one of their pillows to sleep and it’s AWESOME!
Tires, let me say that again tires. Most likely you can solve a lot of your problems by putting on a nice set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4s's. What's the date code on your tires? They tend to get harder as the years go on. 5 years in my experience has been the max before they get too hard.

Agreed. If youre running 19 inch wheels the matching tires will be of quite low profile which will give a harder ride. Remember the base wheels are 17 inch and the matching tires would have much taller sidewalls which will soften the ride. Yes, we all like the look of larger diameter wheels, low profile and wide tires, but these come at a price in ride quality.
